Cheer, Painting and other things........

Image
Yesterday, Jess cheered at her first JV football game and we won!! Alyssa and I sat in the bleachers and cheered HER on....and Alyssa ate lots of candy, especially since she caught 2 spirit sticks! Check out the videos and pictures on the tabs at the right. Today, Jessica got her hi-lights touched up by Judi. She fixed Jess' hair up in a new "do" and it looks really cute! Both girls also painted their horse boxes and they look really great but they still need to be "baked" in the oven to finish them up. Alyssa also decided to do some drawing and painting. Alyssa will be learning to knit after school on Tuesdays until Christmas vacation. Jessica decided that since Alyssa was learning that she would try to re-learn the art of knitting but she is getting really frustrated with it so I don't know how that's going to work out.

It's Over????

We survived the long weekend. The sleep-over went really well and the kids had a great time swimming and watching movies. Now it's back to reality. :o( Both kids had a bit of homework tonight and Jessica had cheer practice until 4:00. Alyssa will go to the after school "Head Start" tomorrow afternoon where she will make stalagmites or stalagtites or something like that!......I can't remember the correct term! She'll have math tutoring on Thursday and Jess will have practice on that same day. Friday is the first football game that the JV cheer squad will cheer at. Jessica has a follow-up eye doctor's appointment that same afternoon, but if we can finish up quickly, then we'll come back out for the game.....I guess we'll have to play it by ear.

Time For School!!!!!

Image
It's that time of year again! Time for school to start. :( Actually, the beginning of school went VERY well. We started on August 20th, half days and then on August 25th we started full days. Jessica has had cheer practice last week in preparation of "Meet the Hornets" night at school. All of the girls performed wonderfully! After "Meet the Hornets", the Cheerleaders hosted a school dance. Of course, Jessica didn't want me to chaperone, but Michelle, the JV cheer sponsor asked if I would work the refreshment counter. Jess just had to deal with it. Alyssa spent the evening with her dad until we got back, even though she was none too pleased that I would be spending the evening with her sister. It is now the Labor Day weekend and tonight we have a friend of Alyssa's and a friend of Jessica's spending the night. The girls got to swim in the pool and then had hotdogs from the grill. I think they are all tired from last night so maybe it will be an earl...

Wow!! Is it that time already????

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am so far behind on writing on my blog and summer vacation is over and school has started!!!!!!! The girls and I went on vacation last week to Galveston Island and stayed at the San Louis hotel, which Jessica only just recently stopped calling it the St. Luis. Donna and Brianna met us there and stayed at the same hotel. The first day, we stopped off at the beach and built sand castles. The second day we went to Moody Gardens Palm Beach and the rest of the time we spent at the hotel pool which was just beautiful! Check out our you tube site at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BMsLX68qNM for the "Waterfall Video". School started on Wednesday this week for half days. Papa picked the kids up from school since Nana is still in Alaska......we really miss her!! She has been gone for 2 weeks and should be back by Tuesday morning. We went to "Meet the Teachers" this week and got to see which teachers Jessica was going to have...

The Moms and Kids Club

Sunday we had some friends and their kids come over for a swim in the pool. We had some rain but all in all, the day turned out really nice. All the kids were really great and everyone got along very well together. Here are some pictures of the kids. We'll have to do this again sometime because it was really fun!

A Weekend in the Country

Image
We had a wonderful day at Pinehurst yesterday! The kids had a really good time in the horse trough.................yes, the horse trough! (See the great pictures!) It was Johnny's Birthday and we had great food and great company......Even in the heat. It was hot but I never heard any complaints from the kids. Check out the video on you tube. www.youtube.com/shellymilner

Cheer Camps are Over! ......For now

Image
Cheers!! Cheer Camp is now officially over. At least the practice sessions are over..........we'll probably be hearing cheers from Jess and Alyssa for several weeks to come! St. Pius Cheer Camp was last week and both girls attended and learned lots of new material. Jessica will have a few more practices in a couple of weeks to get ready for "Meet the Hornets" night. Afterwards, the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade kids will have a dance and she is very excited about that, too. She is already planning on what she will wear. The 4 of us did manage to get out and see "Journey to the Center of the Earth" last weekend, though not in 3D. It turned out to be pretty entertaining. Then we went out to dinner.....my last before I started my 7 day detox, of which I went for 5 days. I stopped over this past weekend and will start up again on Monday. During the 7 days you are only supposed to eat raw fruits and veggies. Sounds like it would be pretty hard but after the first two days...
