Circle Lake Ranch - Horse Camp 2009

Back in the spring, I decided that I would sign the kids up for a different camp this year. Something I figured that they would really enjoy - Horse Camp at Circle Lake Ranch. I knew Alyssa would love it but what really surprised me was that Jessica really loved it, too!

Circle Lake Ranch is located in Katy, Texas which for me meant that I would have to leave the house early so that we could be there by 8:00 am and then I would have to ride the Katy Freeway back in towards town in all of the traffic. What I discovered, was that it really wasn't all that bad. I did ride the Katy Tollway back in but I probably could have fore-gone that and just come in with everyone else on the non-charging part of the freeway.
The girls learned all of the parts of the horses, all of the parts of the saddles - both english and western - how to put on a saddle and how to groom a horse. They learned how to walk, trot, canter and how to make a horse walk backwards. At the end of the camp, they put on a horse show to show everyone how much they had learned.

Wow!! Is it that time already????

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am so far behind on writing on my blog and summer vacation is over and school has started!!!!!!! The girls and I went on vacation last week to Galveston Island and stayed at the San Louis hotel, which Jessica only just recently stopped calling it the St. Luis. Donna and Brianna met us there and stayed at the same hotel. The first day, we stopped off at the beach and built sand castles. The second day we went to Moody Gardens Palm Beach and the rest of the time we spent at the hotel pool which was just beautiful! Papa picked the kids up from school since Nana is still in Alaska......we really miss her!! She has been gone for 2 weeks and should be back by Tuesday morning. Today was picture day at school for the girls. I took Alyssa to get her hair cut yesterday so that it would look nice for today. Jessica had hers cut a couple of weeks ago and it still looked rather good. I put foam curlers in Alyssa's hair last night and she had big fat curls in her hair this morning. I hope the pictures turn out nice. The photographer took one of both girls together and I think that one should turn out really cute. I still need to make Alyssa a follow-up appointment at the doctor for her UTI. She finished her antibiotics on Sunday so it's time to be retested. I just found out that Jessica's football game tomorrow was canceled so hopefully I can get the appointment for tomorrow after school. Jessica is due for her 3rd Guardasil shot and both are due for their flu shots. I don't think they'll be very happy about that.

It's Official!

As of Sunday, I am officially the mother of a teenager. Wow! I can only hope that the next 5 years go as smoothly as the first 13 did. I can also hope that I don't get paid back for Glenn's wild teenage years. From what I understand, they were doozies!! We celebrated Jessica's big 13th birthday with a family party on Sunday. We had hoped that we would have had enough warm weather to warm the pool up for swimming, but it's been on the cool side during the nights and so the pool was no where near being warm enough to swim in. Well, except for crazy Alyssa who cannon-ba lled into the pool. Jessica got Band Hero for her birthday Alyssa loves to play guitar but even more than that, she loves to sing. I think this is her "Rock Band" face. One of the other things Jessica got for her birthday was a pitching net. Last weekend, we spent Easter at my sister's house and my girls hid Easter eggs for Ethan and Ryan. .......And last but not least......Meet the newest...
