Anyone that has followed me on Facebook or on Twitter knows that I have been following the story of Layla Grace Marsh from Cypress, TX over the past few days. Although I didn't know Layla Grace personally, her family shared so much of her life and her battle with Neuroblastoma that I truly feel heartache over her passing. She gave up her fight early this morning. If anyone is interested in donating to Layla Grace Marsh's medical expenses, donations can be made at any Wells Fargo bank. Ask a manager to make a deposit to the Layla Grace Marsh donation account. You may also donate via PayPal here: http://bit.ly/layladonate If you are interested, you can read her story here: http://laylagrace.org/

February Fun

Image
We've had a really busy February, which is why I haven't had time to blog lately. Well, that, and the fact that I was sick for the first half of February might have contributed to the lack of blog time. As of my last post, I was going to make an appointment at the doctors office, which I did on Monday and after a breathing treatment and a chest x-ray was told that it was very bad bronchitis. I got a cortizone shot in the butt, was put on prednisone, antibiotics, symbicort, nasonex, and a rescue inhaler. I started to feel better, but by the next weekend I was having very bad pains in the bones of my hips and legs. So bad, that I ended up in the ER during the early morning hours of Sunday. Unfortunately, I waited for several hours without being seen and I ended up just going home and waiting it out until Monday when I had my next scheduled doctors appointment. I was sent for another x-ray of my legs, but when that didn't show anything, I was told that if the pain persisted af...

A Day in the Country

Image
Granny 'Laine picked up the girls yesterday and took them out to Little House so that they could visit with their cousins for a few hours. While she did that, I got quite a few of my errands and chores done so that I could relax on Sunday. Well, Sunday rolled around and I now am sneezing my head off and my nose is running and I am thinking its got to be allergies which are now on top of the cough I have that I can't seem to shake. Looks like Shelly will be heading to the doctors soon. But I digress........The kids had a really great time out at Little House. They played in the hay barn and from what I understand from Jessica, they pestered the radio station to play their song requests....... ....Which led to this. .....and this. Which by the way, is dancing in case you couldn't figure it out. Take a couple of city kids and throw in some country and this is what you get! I guess if you really use your imagination, you might call this a hay ride. And this???...

Our weekend got off to a busy start. On Friday, Jessica had a birthday party to attend at Pump it Up over at the Marqe Entertainment Center. Since the party was from 7 - 9 in the evening, I decided to drop her off and then I took Alyssa out to dinner at Chili's. We still had an hour to kill before we picked up Jess, so I ran by the house to pick up Glenn so that we could go to pick her up together. When we got home, Glenn decided to assemble the stereo cabinet that we had ordered over the internet AND that came in about a thousand pieces. He did finally finish putting it together on Saturday morning and it looks beautiful. On Saturday, Jessica was invited to the Academic Rally at St. Pius. She tested in Science and Technology but we don't know yet how she did. We finished up at the rally by 3:30 and headed home to get ready to go and meet the family at Saltgrass Steakhouse for Vicki's birthday. Our waiter had a really hard time dividing the checks and we were really getti...

Deep Freeze

I'm not sure what we did to deserve this kind of winter, but man is it cold! As far as I can tell, the whole United States is cold , except those few lucky people in California. The temps reached in the teens and 20's last night and are expected to be as low tonight. We'll stay in the freezing range until Monday. Needless to say, we haven't strayed to far from home and I think we're starting to go a little stir crazy. Jessica spent the day getting ready for the BETA Convention. The theme this year is "The Kentucky Derby - A Circle of Winners". Today she worked on the design for her t-shirt, her photograph, and her jewelry submission. She took one of her pictures of Lilly and used photoshop to make the background black and white. She also took a photo of an ice sculpture she made overnight on a sea of blue. Now she just needs to decide which one she's going to submit. Glenn tried to install the ceiling fan in the front room, but because th...

A LATE CHRISTMAS WISH

One of the best things about blogging is finding friends all over the world. (In an awesome way, not a creepy chat-room type way.) We're lucky because we've built a community of people we can count on, even if they're people we've never met. Here is a guest post that proves the amazing power of the internet: My name is brandy. And I have a blog .And a plea.I use my blog to showcase the crazy I meet everyday, share the stories of the kids I teach and document my love for tequila, dairy products and the abdominal muscles of Ryan Reynolds. Rarely do I talk about personal issues on my blog- as personal as the dude that I adore (who I actually met through my blog- single ladies, let that be a very good reason to blog, the possibility of meeting someone as wonderful as my man), but I need your help. And it involves my dude. He's a guy who made math comics for my class, so they would love learning about addition. He's the kinda guy who sends my friends gift cards when t...
