Cheer Camps are Over! ......For now

Image
Cheers!! Cheer Camp is now officially over. At least the practice sessions are over..........we'll probably be hearing cheers from Jess and Alyssa for several weeks to come! St. Pius Cheer Camp was last week and both girls attended and learned lots of new material. Jessica will have a few more practices in a couple of weeks to get ready for "Meet the Hornets" night. Afterwards, the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade kids will have a dance and she is very excited about that, too. She is already planning on what she will wear. The 4 of us did manage to get out and see "Journey to the Center of the Earth" last weekend, though not in 3D. It turned out to be pretty entertaining. Then we went out to dinner.....my last before I started my 7 day detox, of which I went for 5 days. I stopped over this past weekend and will start up again on Monday. During the 7 days you are only supposed to eat raw fruits and veggies. Sounds like it would be pretty hard but after the first two days...

Another Week Gone.......

Image
Another week has flown by! Jessica had Cheer Camp with the professionals this week. Tuesday through Thursday she practiced fom 8:45 until 4:00 each day. On Thursday afternoon, they had a program to show us what they had learned. Unfortunately, I forgot the camera to take any pictures because of the Rogue Cockroach that came in on Jessie's hair that same morning. She went out to the garage to put her cheer bag in the car and evidently a cockroach hitched a ride on her head to come back into the house. When she realized it was in her hair, she flicked it onto the floor in front of me and I had to do the screaming dance before I found the RAID to spray on it. After that it was out the door and what do you know???? ......I forgot the camera! This weekend, we decided to spend the weekend at home. We cleaned closets and kids rooms and took boxes upon boxes to the Goodwill Drop Box......but the rooms look really great! I think we'll go to the movies tomorrow. We want to see Journey to...

What's New This Week?

Image
Jessica started her first week of cheer camp on Tuesday. Only two hours each day for three days in a row, but she sure was sore by the end of Thursday night! By Friday, the muscles were feeling a little better. Check out the pictures of the new cheerleading outfit.........it's too cute! Alyssa learned something new this week, too! ........She has learned to sew her dolls clothes. Nana took her to Joanne's for fabric and she has sewed several shirts and skirts for Elizabeth. Nana even showed her how to use the sewing machine. I think we have a future "Designer" here. See the picture of what she has sewn! Next week is another week of cheer camp for Jessica but this time she'll go from 8:45 until 4:00 in the afternoon......I think she's going to be even more sore than this week. The week after next, both girls will be going to cheer camp at St. Pius, so I guess it will be 24/7 cheers for awhile.

Happy 4th of July!

Maaaaaaaan, has it been 2 weeks since I last posted?? I guess we've been pretty busy.....the kids finished their 2 weeks of Kidventure Camp at the AWTY International School last Friday. They had a great time and even learned a little French while they were having fun. They went on a field trip to Moody Garden's Palm Beach at Galveston the second week and the first week they went to a carnival at St. Theresa's. They made boomerangs and tie dye shirts as some of their projects. Granny 'Laine spent time with the girls this past Monday and took them to the movie "Wall-E" (which they loved!) and out to lunch at the Black-Eyed Pea......and they really enjoyed their day. They really LOVE their Granny 'Laine time. We left to go to Collegeport on Thursday morning and had another really great time. :o) Jessica and Alyssa got to fish off of the pier and they both caught quite a few fish. (Alyssa caught 3 and Jessica caught 7...wow!) The family played baseball in th...

The Birthday Weekend!

Image
What a wonderful weekend...........We celebrated Cliff and Glenn's birthday's with barbeque from Hickory Hollow and lots and lots of good cheer! Gosh, I think it has been almost forever since we've had Glenn's family over for a get-to-gether. The pool was just about perfect and except for the little weather "snafu" the day was just about perfect, too! The girls talked us into having the cousins stay over for the night. Of course, Lauren and Brandon were just as vocal about talking me into it! The kids were so tired from swimming all day that they crawled into their sleeping bags and were pretty much out before the movie was finished. They were up the next morning for more of the same..........more swimming! They make me tired just watching them. After the kids were picked up, Glenn and I, (along with the girls) went to pick out his birthday present. He wanted a gas grill b...

Happy Father's Day!!

Image
Father's Day Weekend is almost over!! Glenn had to work all day Saturday......the girls and I spent the day shopping and then went to church. For starters, we made ham and cheese omlets, biscuits and bacon for breakfast. Then onto the presents.............the girls picked out a carwash system, coffee maker, and computer game for gifts, which daddy loved. The rest of the day was spent swimming with dad, listening to music, and then great Mexican food and Margaritas.....yum!!
We seem to have had quite a week around the Milner house. Jessica left for Galveston with her friends on Sunday at noon, missed us, and was back at our house by early Wednesday morning. (and do I mean early!) She showed up on the doorstep at 12:30 AM. Alyssa started feeling like she was getting a bladder infection on Sunday evening. A quick trip to the drugstore at 9:30 that night and then I doctored her up with Benedine and gave her Cranberry juice. She was feeling better on Monday but then on Tuesday morning started feeling bad again. Of course, I called the doctor and told them that she had a bladder infection and they wouldn't prescribe something until they saw her. .....................And they see her and guess what?? She has a bladder infection! Duh! So now we have medication and she is feeling MUCH better. Now, Glenn has come down with a rash which kept him up most of the night. He went to the doctor today and has to take medication to see if they can get rid of it. I am re...
