It has been a really nice to have a three day weekend. Poor Glenn had yesterday off but had to go into work this afternoon and now won't get home until midnight.......BUT he will be off tomorrow. The girls and I went to the Kavanagh's house to celebrate July 4th. Gerry made grilled chicken, hamburgers and hotdogs...yum! It was really hot but very fun. Yesterday, I went to the Atrium Day Spa and got my facial. My skin felt so great afterwards and the hot stone massage I got on my shoulders and neck was really relaxing. Before I left, I scheduled a glycolic peel for my face as soon as I get back from vacation. I'll probably need it after all of the sun exposure. Tomorrow, we'll just kick back and relax and enjoy our last day off. The pool is calling my name!

Last week was Father's Day, but Glenn had to work the MOD shift on Saturday until midnight. He had started feeling like he was getting sick on Friday, had to work the late shift on Saturday and then slept in on Father's Day but felt REALLY bad. We tried to make the best of it but he just felt crummy. He went to the doctor on Tuesday and the doctor said that he sounded like he might have pneumonia so he sent him over for some x-rays of his chest. The doctor's office finally called on Friday and told him he definitely had pneumonia and so they put him on antibiotics. In the meantime, I also caught a cough and because this is the contagious kind of pneumonia, I had to go to the doctor to see if the cough that I had was also pneumonia. He knew right off that I didn't but he did put me on the same antibiotic "just in case" and also to help get rid of the cough. I also had my monthly MD Anderson appointment on Friday and they took blood to run tests on the molecula...

Alyssa and Jessica at the Circle Lake Horse Ranch Back in the spring, I decided that I would sign the kids up for a different camp this year. Something I figured that they would really enjoy - Horse Camp at Circle Lake Ranch. I knew Alyssa would love it but what really surprised me was that Jessica really loved it, too! Alyssa - riding Creole Jessica - riding Coco Circle Lake Ranch is located in Katy, Texas which for me meant that I would have to leave the house early so that we could be there by 8:00 am and then I would have to ride the Katy Freeway back in towards town in all of the traffic. What I discovered, was that it really wasn't all that bad. I did ride the Katy Tollway back in but I probably could have fore-gone that and just come in with everyone else on the non-charging part of the freeway. The girls learned all of the parts of the horses, all of the parts of the saddles - both english and western - how to put on a saddle and how to groom a horse. They learned how to w...

Well, Summer is well on it's way. The kids have been out for two weeks now and are really enjoying their non-school days at Nana's. Jess has taken her laptop and Alyssa has taken my laptop every day and have kept theirselves pretty much entertained. They have gone to the park to ride their Fusion scooters, Nana has taken them to our house to swim in the pool, they have gotten to visit with Brianna and they have enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Next week is horse riding camp out at the Circle Lake Ranch in Katy. They will learn all aspects of horses from how to groom, feed, ride and all the parts of the horse, bridle and saddle. On Friday, the family is invited to come out and watch what they have learned. I went ahead and took the day off and after camp, Alyssa has an orthodontists appointment to check on her expander. It seems like it is getting harder to turn these days so maybe it is actually making some progress in her mouth. It looks like she has more room now but sh...

The kids had their last day of school last Friday. They went for only a half of a day and now it's on to Summer Vacation! Their first week was spent at Nana's relaxing and playing games on their laptops. Today both kids had a doctor's appointment for their annual physicals. Jessica had to get two shots for entry into 7th grade but Alyssa got off with not having to get any shots which made her extremely happy. Camp forms are signed so they are ready for their horse riding camp during the week of June 15th. Jessica also has dance camp starting on July 6th and then we will be going on vacation to Galveston during the week of July 20th. That pretty much sums up our 2009 summer. The kids will start school again on August 13th and I'm not sure why they are starting that early. I thought we were supposed to be following the directives of HISD but HISD doesn't start until August 24th, so who knows what's going on. Anyway, we'll have a fun-filled summer unti...

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Glenn worked all day Saturday as Manager On Duty. I used my time wisely and made sure that the house got cleaned. Jessica studied for her finals that will be coming up this next week. On Sunday, we went to the Sam Houston Racetrack. Granny Laine let the girls pick the horses that they thought would win and she placed bets for them. Jessica ended up winning over $40 and Alyssa ended up winning over $20. Glenn was the big winner of the night and he won over $300.00......I was the big loser and won NOTHING. But that didn't dampen my spirit.............I still had a great time. Friday night was Brianna Kibler's and Cailin Kavanagh's 8th grade graduation from St. Ambrose Catholic School. I am sure that they are really glad that they will no longer be at St. Ambrose, but we will really miss them. Jessica still has two years left at SAS and Alyssa has 5 years left at SAS. Kendel, Ashley & Jess Yesterday was St. Ambrose's End of School Pep Rally. Jessica got to perform with the JV cheer squad for the last time. There will be no JV cheer squad next year. Instead, they will have a Varsity Cheer squad and a Dance Team. Jessica got to perform a dance routine with the new dance squad, too. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a video together to post on the blog so that everyone can see her routines. Jessica and Chelsey The Cousins Yesterday was also Alyssa's birthday. She got all sorts of neat things for her birthday. She got a new Fusion scooter and an ipod just to name a few. Her palete expander fell out of her mouth on Thursday and so we had to go to the orthodontist and have it put back in yesterday. Alyssa's ipod!
