It's Official!

Image
As of Sunday, I am officially the mother of a teenager. Wow! I can only hope that the next 5 years go as smoothly as the first 13 did. I can also hope that I don't get paid back for Glenn's wild teenage years. From what I understand, they were doozies!! We celebrated Jessica's big 13th birthday with a family party on Sunday. We had hoped that we would have had enough warm weather to warm the pool up for swimming, but it's been on the cool side during the nights and so the pool was no where near being warm enough to swim in. Well, except for crazy Alyssa who cannon-ba lled into the pool. Jessica got Band Hero for her birthday Alyssa loves to play guitar but even more than that, she loves to sing. I think this is her "Rock Band" face. One of the other things Jessica got for her birthday was a pitching net. Last weekend, we spent Easter at my sister's house and my girls hid Easter eggs for Ethan and Ryan. .......And last but not least......Meet the newest...

Spring!

Image
I do believe that Spring has finally arrived. After a really long and cold winter, it has finally warmed up.....Yay! Because it was so nice this weekend, we were able to work out in the yard and put up the pottery mosaic that Alyssa made at a friends house. We also put up Jessica's new wind-chimes that Granny Laine got her for Easter. Alyssa also got some wind-chimes, but since hers have horses on them, they ended up in her room. I couldn't get my hands on them. My Dad had surgery to remove a tumor from one of his kidneys last Thursday. He's had some complications and hasn't been allowed to leave the hospital yet. We're hoping and praying that he gets to come home real soon. We'll be getting a long weekend for Easter break and I'm planning on enjoying every minute of it. Alyssa's mosaic......she says that the four figures in the center are our family Jessica's froggy windchime We're getting close to finishing......someday I can'...

Spring Break and other things

Image
Last week was Spring Break for the kids and I took Thursday and Friday off from work. No plans off the top of my head, so I was open to ideas. We talked it over and decided we wanted to go to Galveston for an overnight stay. Talked my sister into going with us.....Thanks Donna! I'm probably crazy, but I told both of my girls that they could each invite one friend to go with us. The one thing I forgot about Spring Break week is that the traffic going to Galveston would be really awful. I didn't know the half of it! We hit stop and go traffic (off and on) all the way from our house down to the island and a 1 hour trip ended up taking 2 hours. Anyway, we got down to Galveston around 2 o'clock and we parked in the hotel parking lot and walked over to the beach area across the street. When Donna and Bri and Bri got there (no that's not a typo!), they met us down at the beach and we waited around until our room was ready for check in. We stayed at the Victorian Condos which I...

Layla Grace Marsh 11/26/2007 - 03/09/2010

Anyone that has followed me on Facebook or on Twitter knows that I have been following the story of Layla Grace Marsh from Cypress, TX over the past few days. Although I didn't know Layla Grace personally, her family shared so much of her life and her battle with Neuroblastoma that I truly feel heartache over her passing. She gave up her fight early this morning. If anyone is interested in donating to Layla Grace Marsh's medical expenses, donations can be made at any Wells Fargo bank. Ask a manager to make a deposit to the Layla Grace Marsh donation account. February Fun

Image
We've had a really busy February, which is why I haven't had time to blog lately. Well, that, and the fact that I was sick for the first half of February might have contributed to the lack of blog time. As of my last post, I was going to make an appointment at the doctors office, which I did on Monday and after a breathing treatment and a chest x-ray was told that it was very bad bronchitis. I got a cortizone shot in the butt, was put on prednisone, antibiotics, symbicort, nasonex, and a rescue inhaler. I started to feel better, but by the next weekend I was having very bad pains in the bones of my hips and legs. So bad, that I ended up in the ER during the early morning hours of Sunday. Unfortunately, I waited for several hours without being seen and I ended up just going home and waiting it out until Monday when I had my next scheduled doctors appointment. I was sent for another x-ray of my legs, but when that didn't show anything, I was told that if the pain persisted af...

A Day in the Country

Image
Granny 'Laine picked up the girls yesterday and took them out to Little House so that they could visit with their cousins for a few hours. While she did that, I got quite a few of my errands and chores done so that I could relax on Sunday. Well, Sunday rolled around and I now am sneezing my head off and my nose is running and I am thinking its got to be allergies which are now on top of the cough I have that I can't seem to shake. Looks like Shelly will be heading to the doctors soon. But I digress........The kids had a really great time out at Little House. They played in the hay barn and from what I understand from Jessica, they pestered the radio station to play their song requests....... ....Which led to this. .....and this. Which by the way, is dancing in case you couldn't figure it out. Take a couple of city kids and throw in some country and this is what you get! I guess if you really use your imagination, you might call this a hay ride. And this???...
