Florida Road Trip 2010.....And other stuff

Image
Take a look at the calendar. Can you believe that it's almost August? Do you know what that means? School starts on August 13th for both girls. I just don't know where the time went. Here's a recap of what happened over the past 30 days: At the end of last month, Alyssa went to Girl Scout camp at Camp Agnes Arnold while Jessica spent a few days at the Snapshots daycamp at the Cypress Academy. After that, we spent the July 4th weekend celebrating Glenn and his dad's birthdays out at Little House and then we went to the Sam Houston Race park to watch the horses race and to see their Fireworks Show. My Uncle Vic passed away in his sleep (He will be deeply missed). I found out some very disturbing news concerning a close friend and I am still trying to come to grips with it (and so far NOT succeeding very well). We are constantly praying for Sr. Lucy, a close family friend, who was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancers. On the 17th of July, we were back at Little Hous...

So Many Activities, So Little Time (to post, that is!)

Ahhhhh......the relaxing days of Summer! We have really been enjoying our Summer Vacation.......well at least the kids have been enjoying theirs. I still have to work - BUT because they don't have to get to school early, we've been able to sleep in a little longer. Alyssa went to GS Camp at Agnes Arnold for the Short & Sweet session. She and her friend, Abigail, wer there for Sunday through Tuesday and I think they both had a blast. While Alyssa did her thang at camp, Jessica was signed up for the Snapshots acting session at the Cypress Academy of Performing Arts. She did really great, but I am still waiting on my email with the video showing off her acting skills. We had a Father's Day party for all of the Father's on the Saturday before Father's Day and then on June 26th, we celebrated Glenn's 46th birthday with a quiet celebration at home. A week later, we celebrated it at Little House with the family. The kids played peach ball which consists of hitting ...

Enjoying Summer Vacation

It has been very nice since the kids have been off for summer vacation.......Much more relaxed. Jessica is taking tumbling classes and Alyssa is taking ballet classes at the Cypress Academy on Tuesday evenings. Alyssa is going to a Girl Scout camp and Jessica is taking a Snapshots Workshop at the Cypress Academy of Performing Arts at the end of June. They will also both be learning tennis and we have a vacation planned for the 3rd week of July. Even though this might sound like a lot of work, it is actually a lot more relaxing then going to school.....go figure! Jessica has decided that she wants to get into shape and so she is running 2-3 times per week and while she runs, Alyssa and I walk the neighborhood. This seems to be working out for all of us and we are hoping that it will get us into shape. I think the running will help Jess both on the tennis court and if she decides to try out for basketball again this year at St. Ambrose, although from past experience, basketball probably ...

Ballet Dance Recital

Image
We went to Alyssa's Ballet Recital on Saturday. The only thing I can say is that it was fabulous! The whole family went and cheered Alyssa on during her dance. She did a routine to "Stand by Me" and did a wonderful job. After the program, we went to Los Cucos for dinner with the family. All in all, it was a fantastic night! Please take a good look at the ballet bun. My original work! Alyssa in Action Perfect form

Alyssa got a BIG surprise for her birthday - A Brand New Laptop! We celebrated Alyssa's birthday again, with a sleepover this time. She invited her two best friends, Abigail and Katherine, and since we were celebrating again, I let Jessica invite over her friend Chelsey......just to contribute to the crazy-ness. Because it's been so warm lately, we decided on a swim party. As well as a sleep-over. The kids played Rock Band and then the older girls and I went to BlockBuster to rent a movie. We picked out two.....The Fourth Kind & Avatar. We started out with The Fourth Kind and ended up turning it off within the first minute. A stabbing in the chest in the first scene was just too much for our little group. We switched to Avatar and everyone was happy. The Three Musketeers - Abigail, Alyssa, and Katherine The Ultimate Summer Activity - Making Smores over a campfire Movie Time Jessica and Chelsey She's "Smokin' Hot!" Mother's Day & Birthdays

Image
This month seems to be flying by. I think that pretty much says it all. I am ready for school to let out so that we might be able to slow things down a bit around our house. This past weekend, we celebrated Mother's Day as well as Alyssa and Guy's birthdays. We had a full house since we invited both sides of the family and I was really tired. This coming weekend, Alyssa will celebrate on her real birthday by inviting over 2 friends to sleep-over. I have also decided to let Jessica invite a friend to sleep-over so that she'll not have any excuses for bothering the younger kids. So, that being said, I am going to have another doozy of a weekend! Next Friday is the 8th grade breakfast and I, along with a few other parents, will be getting food prepared to serve to the 8th grade class. .....like I said before, I'm ready for school to be out. :o) Me and my Mom - I think my whole up-do tells you how hard I had worked RyRy and Rox Glenn - The Grill Master The Birthday Gir...

Jersey Village Gold Dusters Spring Show & Other Stuff

Image
This past week, we were busy with dancing, practices and rehearsals for the Gold Dusters Spring Show. Jessica had her show on Saturday and it turned out really nice. The other dancers were really fantastic, too! Lots of hard work goes into getting ready for a dance! Check out the "do" on Ryan Ethan wearing the "pimp" hat :) The Michael Jackson Stingerett performance Alyssa after a hard work at her ballet class for her dance recital Nana and Mimi have been watching Ethan & Ryan (aka - the boys) while Josh and Roxanne are in LA and then Vegas. We're hoping they won alot of money and can loan us some cash! We'll be knocking on their door when they get home.
