High Drama.......

I took Alyssa to the orthodontist on Tuesday afternoon. They took impressions of her teeth and have decided that both her top and bottom jaws are too small and this is why she hasn't lost more of her baby teeth. They just don't have room to come in. She will have to wear a permanent appliance on top and bottom to stretch out her pallete, which sounds painful to me, but which the orthodontist says won't hurt her. This will be considered "Phase I" and will widen her jaws so that all of her teeth will have enough room to grow in. When she's eleven, "Phase II" will be the real braces and straighten the teeth that have come in. Jessica got back from her 2 day BETA trip to Dallas on Tuesday evening. She was very tired and quiet and I pretty much had to drag all of the information out of her. What I didn't find out from her, but from someone else, was that she ended up rooming with 2 seventh grade girls and a chaperone that she didn't know. ...

Jess' Birthday & Easter

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESS!! We celebrated Jessica's birthday on Saturday.....It was All Jess, All day! She decided that she wanted to go to the movies to see "Monsters VS Aliens" and then out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. She started the day by ordering her breakfast.....she wanted a ham and cheese omlet :) Then she opened her presents. She got a basketball goal, new basketball, skateboard and a Fusion scooter as well as some "girlie" stuff! ETHAN ENJOYING HIS BIRTHDAY RYAN ENJOYING ETHAN'S BIRTHDAY She shares her birthday with her cousin, Ethan, so we went to Chuckie Cheese's in the morning to have his party. After we got back from the party, while Glenn was setting up the basketball goal, Alyssa was playing with Maggie and for some reason, the dog bit her on her bottom lip. Very uncommon for her and I was expecting it to be the new dog, not Maggie! So when Alyssa told me it was Maggie that bit her, I was very suprised! Well, this threw a wrench into th...

I have worked a grueling 4 days and am now off for 4 days......I am sooooo happy! The kids are off for 4 days, too, but Jessica will be going on the BETA trip to Dallas on Monday and we'll have to get her to the school by 4:00 am! She won't return until Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Alyssa has her first orthodontic appointment scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. We're hoping for beautiful teeth! (eventually) Last Saturday, we went to the SPCA and brought home our newest family member. Meet Sadie. She is a long-haired Chihuahua. She is a very sweet dog and needs just a little training and she'll be a wonderful addition to our family. Tomorrow morning, Sadie will go to the VCA Animal Hospital to get her check up to make sure that she has no major heath problems. Jess and I will go to see Judi to get our hair cut and Jess will get hi-lights put in her hair again. Saturday is Jessica's 12th birthday. We'll probably go to a movie and to dinner to celebrate. We're havi...

And the Results Are In............

Image
I had my bone marrow test on Friday March 20th and as of this morning I hadn't gotten any results back yet. I guess you could take that as no news is good news.......maybe? I figured that I just got forgotten. Dr. Faderl was out of town last week and I guess Brooke was just a little busy to call me back. I decided to call MD Anderson this morning and see what the results were. I heard back from Dr. Faderl this evening and he said that everything looked "perfect"! I can now breathe a sigh of relief. I was diagnosed with leukemia in June of 2007 and I guess you can say, "I've come a long way, baby!" Here are a few pictures from when I was first admitted to MD Anderson Hospital. I was scheduled to stay for a whole week for my induction phase of the chemo. I was admitted to MD Anderson's Hospital very late on a Friday night and I was doing so well on the chemo, that they released me by Wednesday morning.......of course, I had to take chemo for another 9 mont...

The Aftermath of Spring Break

After being off last week, this week seemed like it would NEVER end! It was back to homework and studying.....both kids had quizes and tests to study for this week. Jessica made a 100 on her Algebra quiz and Alyssa passed her timed multiplication test and is now on to division....woohoo, yeah right! After having that bone marrow aspiration, I just never seemed to be able to find the time to work out, until Thursday evening and then again tonight. My goal is to also work out on Saturday and Sunday to make up for missing earlier this week. Hopefully, it will put me back on track. Glenn's brother, Clint, got married yesterday in Austin and we weren't able to make it to the wedding since it was on Thursday, but our thoughts were with him. Congrats, Clint and Lupi! Glenn had to pull an "MOD" on Monday & during the night, so I didn't get to see him from Sunday evening until Tuesday evening. We get on different schedules and he's sleeping while I'm awa...

More Spring Break......

Image
Yesterday, I woke up very early to go to MD Anderson for my bone marrow aspiration. Elaine got up equally early to come over and watch the girls while Glenn and I went to the hospital. We were home by noon and I was able to take a much needed nap. Exciting Spring Break so far, huh? Today, we decided to take the kids to ITZ to have lunch and play some games. We spent the better part of the afternoon doing that and now we're going to go out to dinner at PF Chang's, our most favorite place! After that, we have rented "Twilight" and we're going to spend the evening watching the movie. Here are some pictures of the kids at ITZ.........

Spring Break

We all went to the beach today. The weather was beautiful......blue skies and green water....it doesn't get any better than that, does it? We decided right before we went to bed last night to go to Galveston this morning. We ended up going to Stewarts Beach and found a nice area that didn't have as many people on it. The kids played in the sand and water most of the day even though the water was at least 60 degrees! Even though we all put on sunscreen, we ended up VERY sunburned. We're hoping that it's better by tomorrow.
