Welcome To The Long Holiday Weekend :)

Image
Before and after pictures of Jess on hi-light day Yay!! Looking forward to a long weekend! I was able to get off of work early, pick up the kids and get started on our weekend a little sooner than expected. Glenn got off early, grilled some chicken and then we all swam in the pool for awhile. Today, Jessica went to get her hi-lights done at Judi's and they turned our really natural looking............just what I wanted. I figure that the time in the pool this summer will lighten them up a bit more so I didn't want to get anything drastic looking done. She also got her haircut updated and now the hair stays out of her eyes - which is a bonus for me!! Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of the day when I first started noticing that something was wrong with me before I was diagnosed with Leukemia. I am thinking about posting some kind of rememberance story about everything I went through back then. I just have to figure out how I will go about doing that within this same bl...

What A Great Luau!

Image
Well, I'm a little late with this post, but the Birthday Luau party was a blast! I think all of the girls had a great time. I counted 15 little girls, 6 older girls, and 15 adults..........that's quite a large group! Jess and her friends, along with Brianna and Cailin really helped watch the younger girls so that I could tend to everything else. The grilled chicken and beef skewers and fruit kabobs were a hit with everyone. Alyssa got a lot of nice gifts as well as quite a few gift cards that seem to be burning a hole in her pocket. I guess I know what we'll be doing this weekend. :0) Speaking of this weekend, Jess will be getting her hi-lights on Saturday morning. I'll have to post some before and after pictures of her new hair style. Nothing much planned for the Memorial Weekend..........I think we'll play it by ear and see if it takes us anywhere!

A New Cheerleader!

Image
Well, Jessica is now officially a member of the Junior Varsity Cheerleading squad. The school had their last pep rally and they introduced the new squad. They also had the old jv squad, which Brianna & Cailin are on, and they all got to do their special cheers and dances. I went to the school today and took a few pictures of the girls cheering. After that, both girls had birthday parties to attend in the evening. Glenn and I pretty much worked as a "tag" team to get everyone picked up on time. Now we're getting ready for Alyssa's Luau birthday party on Sunday afternoon.............it ought to be really fun!

Alyssa's Birthday!

Image
Today is Alyssa's 8th birthday. We started out by waking up to NO electricity in the house. It didn't come back on until we were walking out of the door, so needless to say, I was pretty wilted by the time we left. I couldn't even see to do more than run a brush through my hair and apply some mascara. I met my Rosey Posey for lunch at school and we had Subway sandwiches and passed out cookies to celebrate. Alyssa and Maddy Holik joined us for lunch..........they are the cutest pair of sisters! They told me that their mom told them to tell me that they would be coming to the Luau party on Sunday, so I guess so far we have about 12 little girls and 4 big girls coming over.....It's going to be a BIG crowd! Tonight, Alyssa has told me that she would like to have dinner at PF Chang's so that ought to be fun. Alyssa had her oral book report today. She was to dress as her character of her book which was Jess, the American girl. She looked really cute in her braids and dres...

A Wonderful Mother's Day!!

Image
We just celebrated a whole weekend of Mother's Day. Saturday we got up early and got ready for the family photograph. It was a long process but I think the photographer MUST have gotten at least one good shot! Alyssa was tired by the end and put on her "pouty" face but I think it all turned out okay in the end.......at least I hope it did! Afterwards, we went to Donna's house for the BBQ............sat out by the pool, and had a Margarita or two. Glenn went out to see his mother out at Vicki's house in the afternoon but was home by 8:00 in the evening. Sunday, I got to sleep in a little later and woke up to the smells of breakfast cooking. I got up and the girls were setting the table and I had a beautiful bouqet of roses in the middle of it. I got to relax in the pool in the afternoon and then a little later, Jess and Alyssa scrubbed and massaged my hands and feet for me. What a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day!

How Many More Weeks in May????

Image
The First Communion potluck was really nice. Lots of people showed up......Glenn couldn't make it but Nana, Donna and Bri were able to join us for dinner. Alyssa was really excited about making her First Communion this past Saturday. She looked lovely in her white dress.........Just like an angel!! Jessica played the bells during the ceremony and also sang with the choir......it was very beautiful! Everyone got to visit at Nana's and Pappa's afterwards and Alyssa got a lot of very nice things as gifts. Jessica had her Science Fair on Wednesday and Thursday and we worked on the final touches of the project over the weekend. She also started her cheerleading practices this past week after school. We had fittings for the uniforms on Wednesday and so she'll be good to go! The JV cheerleaders will be introduced at next Friday's pep rally at school. We can't wait!!

So much to do, so little time to do it!!

Wow! Who opened up the flood-gate??? This weekend was so nice.........Glenn and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary. We went shopping and I got to pick out my anniversary present.......It's absolutely beautiful! Afterwards, we went to dinner at the Taste of Texas. Kids stayed at Nana's then she kept them busy for most of the afternoon on Sunday by taking them to the Spring Festival at the Church. Once back at home, though, Jessica needed help with her Science Fair project. Almost finished with that, now, YAY! Next, we have the First Communion Pot Luck dinner at the school on Thursday. I have volunteered to make baked beans but luckily remembered to buy the things I needed for it this weekend. Now I just have to find the time to make the dish. Let's see, Saturday will be Alyssa's First Communion at St. Ambrose and afterwards we'll be hosting lunch/reception at Nana's house. That's what's coming for the this week. I'll go into the following weeks...
