Happy Birthday, Jess!

Image
15 years ago today, at 6:32 am, God put a 7 pound 12 ounce precious bundle into my arms and my heart. She was a little early, 4 weeks to be exact, but I think she was just so excited to finally get here that she didn't care that she was early. Of course, getting here early meant that she had to stay in the NICU unit at St. Joseph's hospital for a few days. She was a bundle of energy then and she's still a bundle of energy today. Happy 15th Birthday Jessica......I love you!

Duty Calls!

The kids were off on Spring Break a couple of weeks ago. I took off that Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday so that we could do something fun. We went to the rodeo to see TBP and then on to Galveston. We got burned to a crisp. The weather was just so nice that we didn't think to put on sunscreen. I know.....Really stupid. I had also received a jury summons to apear at the court house on the following Monday. No problem, right? I just waltz right in, do my "thang" and waltz right on back out. Wrong. I was selected for a felony murder trial and spent 6 days as a juror in court. This was a Harris County District Court presided over by Hon. Judge Ruben Guerrero. A couple of things stuck with me after going through the whole trial jury process. One, it was a great experience and not anything like I thought it would be. Two, I hope I never have to do it again. The whole thing was very emotionally disturbing for me. The way I feel, it's not up to me ...

A New Year, A New Me

It's 2012. It's the first of March 2012 to be exact. Unreal. Lots of things have happened since my last blog post back in September 2011. None of them majorly mind-blowing, but still a lot of time has passed. First, the drought is over! It has rained and rained and rained and rained over the past 2 months. The grass is greener, the flowers and trees are happy......life can't get better than that, right? Second, I made a few New Years Resolutions. First and foremost, get back in control of my eating and exercising habits. I decided to join Weight Watchers at the beginning of the year. It's worked before for me and I knew it would work again. So far, I have lost 24 lbs. I have quiet a few left to lose, but I'm back on track and more in control. Third, I also made a New Years Resolution to be nicer. Now, normally I'm a pretty nice person, but there are a few people that just get under my skin and I get a little snippy with them. I'm trying to be a better person...

Starting Off With A Bang!

It seems like we dove right into the start of the school year head-first. We have already had a lot of homework, tests, dance practices, spirit week, football games to dance for at SAS, open house at Jersey Village, Meet the Hornets night, attended Grease-The Musical at JV, and Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up at both schools - just to name a few of our activities. And, might I add, that Jessica was asked to the Homecoming dance and we were out shopping for a dress this weekend. We found a beautiful one! Getting Ready to Watch Some TEXAN FOOTBALL Meet the Hornets Night Stingeretts Performing at an SAS Football Game Texas has been plagued by one of it's worst droughts in history. We've had many wild fires pop up all around us but I think our wonderful firefighters have contained most of them. I've been trying to do my part to help our little feathered friends by providing water. We've had a ...

It's Over???

The Lazy days of summer It's over??? Already??? What happened to summer vacation? Alyssa started back to school on Friday and Jessica starts next Monday. I guess that means that Summer is officially over and done.....right? Well, you would think that, but it's been 100+ degrees for the past 15 days. We're cooking.......literally! I don't think there will be a REAL end to summer for quite some time. Furniture surfing??? Let me back up a bit...... This says it all At the start of the girls summer vacation, they both took tennis lessons from Rivera Tennis Academy and the Houston Tennis Association. Jessica wants to play tennis at JVHS and she thought this would be a great opportunity to get in some practice. Both girls came down with Strepp Throat about mid-June. We celebrated Glenn's birthday out at the new improved "Little House". Please do NOT ask me why I only had 2 candles.... You won't like...

May Birthday Palooza....And other stuff

Well.....uh, I......uh, hmmm.....sorry, but I just can't seem to come up with a really valid reason for not visiting here more often. I guess if you look at the pictures, you can see that I've been really busy, right? I know, I know, lots of busy people blog. Some every day. Some several times a day. I guess I'll just have to pull myself away from Facebook long enough to blog more frequently! We really did have a busy last two months. We celebrated Easter, Donna's 50th birthday, Mother's Day (for multiple mothers!), all of the May birthdays and Jessica's 8th grade graduation. We even had a few other things thrown into the mix, like our spontaneous trip to Surfside, Alyssa's horse riding session, Jessica's 8th grade trip and 8th grade breakfast and Ethan's Kindergarten graduation. Once again......the past two months in pictures. Surfside Beach - Look at all that seaweed! Alyssa - frolicking in the surf Never too old to dye Easter Eggs! Easter Morning...
