Our Busy Weekend With Birthdays and Horses

I promised I would have something to write about after the weekend was over and boy do I! We started out yesterday by going to Ryan's 1st birthday party. He had an Elmo cake that my sister made and another cake from Randalls that had Elmo and other Sesame Street characters on it. Ethan even got to help his liddle brudda blowout the candles on his cake......good job, Ethan!



Ryan's Birthday Part 1


Later in the afternoon, we went out to "Little House" for Vicki's birthday party. Glenn had gone on ahead of the girls and I so he was already out there when we got there. We stopped at the grocery store on the way to pick up some carrots and apples for Penny, Pecos and Lily.


All of the kids had a wonderful time feeding the horses their treats and then their hay. And speaking of hay, they had a great time playing in the hay! They also hooked the wagon up to the riding lawn mower and had their own little hayride around the property.

Today, we just hung out at the house and relaxed a little bit. The four of us went on a very long bike ride and then afterwards, we played around in the front yard. Here are some pictures of the kids on their dad's skateboard.

Wow!! Is it that time already????

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am so far behind on writing on my blog and summer vacation is over and school has started!!!!!!! The girls and I went on vacation last week to Galveston Island and stayed at the San Louis hotel, which Jessica only just recently stopped calling it the St. Luis. Donna and Brianna met us there and stayed at the same hotel. The first day, we stopped off at the beach and built sand castles. The second day we went to Moody Gardens Palm Beach and the rest of the time we spent at the hotel pool which was just beautiful! It's Official!

As of Sunday, I am officially the mother of a teenager. Wow! I can only hope that the next 5 years go as smoothly as the first 13 did. I can also hope that I don't get paid back for Glenn's wild teenage years. From what I understand, they were doozies!! We celebrated Jessica's big 13th birthday with a family party on Sunday. We had hoped that we would have had enough warm weather to warm the pool up for swimming, but it's been on the cool side during the nights and so the pool was no where near being warm enough to swim in. Well, except for crazy Alyssa who cannon-ba lled into the pool. Jessica got Band Hero for her birthday Alyssa loves to play guitar but even more than that, she loves to sing. I think this is her "Rock Band" face. One of the other things Jessica got for her birthday was a pitching net. We've Been Robbed!!

The girls and I got home today around 5:00 pm, pulled the car into the garage and then unloaded the groceries that I had picked up earlier. I left the garage door opened as I have every day since I can remember. Around 6:30, we heard tires screeching outside and both girls ran down the stairs to see what it was that was making that horrible sound. We went outside and saw the tire tracks on the street but no cars that we could see. About 2 minutes later, I got a call from Glenn on his cell phone and he said that he was chasing down a truck that had been in front of our house loading up the stuff from the garage! He lost them going into an apartment complex near the house. He said they looked pretty cruddy and they were in an old beat up white truck but he couldn't get close enough to get the license plate number.
