A Late Start to the 2014 Blog

Image
I'm making NO promises.  Okay, I said it.  No promises of keeping up with this blog.  (Maybe that might give me a kick in the butt to keep it up to date)  Or not.  Time will tell.  Right? Anyway, we're into the 3rd month of 2014 and not a whole lot has happened.   We celebrated New Years Eve at our house and invited the usual suspects.  We celebrated my birthday as well as Lauren's birthday at Joni's house.  We celebrated my birthday again, as well as Mom's and Roxanne's birthdays last weekend.  It was birthday week for me! We've had an awful lot of cold weather this year, too.  The kids have had 2 "Extreme Cold Weather" days off from school.  Alyssa actually made an "Ice" man.  We ended up with sleet mixed with snow so no snowman.  I heard the song,  "Do you want to build a Snowman?", from the movie Frozen , so many times during those days that I got it stuck in my head and I was singing it too.  Too...

Where Has the Last Year Gone??

Image
Looks like I might have gotten a little side tracked over the past year.  No posts.  No pictures.  Nothing.  Nada.  I seem to be having a hard time keeping up with blogging lately.  Oh, who am I kidding.  I can't even keep up with my laundry. Okay......Let me see if I can recap the last year.  And that's only if my memory will start working. *Deep Breath*   Wish me luck! Let's see, I left off around January of 2013.  Jess is a Junior in High School and Alyssa is in 8th grade in Junior High School.  We are excited that she will be in High School next year and Jess will be a Senior!   When I started this blog, Jess was in 4th grade and Alyssa was in 1st grade. In 2013, We had birthday celebrations, a Mother's Day celebration, Father's Day, but no vacation.   We had first days of school, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Jessica got her license.  We went to the zoo.  I won ticke...

Happy New Year......2013!

Happy New Year 2013! We've had a very cold and rainy year so far.  That being said, we went to dinner and then stayed in on New Years Eve this year.  Woo Hoo! Alyssa participated in the Academic Rally at St. Pius on Saturday and she placed 3rd for the poetry she submitted about sky diving. On Sunday we celebrated Ryan's 5th birthday party at Monkey Joe's. ......Then we went home to watch the Houston Texans lose their playoff game.  Bummer. Alyssa is on the St. Ambrose JV basketball team and we have had several games to attend in the afternoons as well as practices on the days she doesn't have games.  So far, January is full of games, practices, birthday parties, doctor's appointments and orthodontist appointments.  I can't wait until February.

So Much To Do, So Little Time To.......Write

When was the last time I wrote on this blog.  *big sigh*  I guess I just need to stop making promises I can't keep.  I totally missed blogging Alyssa's birthday.  So I guess I'll start from there. May 15th was Alyssa's 12th birthday.  Happy Birthday, Alyssa!! (A LOT Belated) My baby was such a cute bald headed baby.  Just look at her!  I can't believe my baby is now 12 years & 8 months old! Isn't she just beautiful ? Not sure about the rest of you, but the summer months flew by for the Milner family!  Jessica started Cross Country practice in June and four days a week she was at the school running or weight lifting. During July, we went to Panama City Florida for vacation. We had a very nice and relaxing week but after a couple of days, the seaweed floated in on the tide.  The kids and Glenn rode a jet ski while I lounged on the beach.  That's my idea of a nice vacation! August was the start of ...

Happy Birthday, Jess!

15 years ago today, at 6:32 am, God put a 7 pound 12 ounce precious bundle into my arms and my heart. She was a little early, 4 weeks to be exact, but I think she was just so excited to finally get here that she didn't care that she was early. Of course, getting here early meant that she had to stay in the NICU unit at St. Joseph's hospital for a few days. She was a bundle of energy then and she's still a bundle of energy today. Happy 15th Birthday Jessica......I love you!

Duty Calls!

The kids were off on Spring Break a couple of weeks ago. I took off that Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday so that we could do something fun. We went to the rodeo to see TBP and then on to Galveston. We got burned to a crisp. The weather was just so nice that we didn't think to put on sunscreen. I know.....Really stupid. I had also received a jury summons to apear at the court house on the following Monday. No problem, right? I just waltz right in, do my "thang" and waltz right on back out. Wrong. I was selected for a felony murder trial and spent 6 days as a juror in court. This was a Harris County District Court presided over by Hon. Judge Ruben Guerrero. A couple of things stuck with me after going through the whole trial jury process. One, it was a great experience and not anything like I thought it would be. Two, I hope I never have to do it again. The whole thing was very emotionally disturbing for me. The way I feel, it's not up to me ...
